Wear your everyday clothes, preferably something comfortable that will be easy to take off when getting onto the table.
Please try to have some rest time prior to the massage and afterwards. This will ensure you gain the full benefits from it.
Before your first treatment, we run through the consultation form you completed during your booking process, discussing any areas of concern, health conditions, allergies, medications, or recent surgery. It is important to list all of these so we can adapt the session to your specific needs, minimising harm and maximising benefit.
You can also ask any questions to understand how the massage will work.
After the initial consultation, you have as long as you need alone to get ready and settle on the table under the towels. It is normal to undress to underwear for a full massage, but you should only undress to the level at which you are comfortable; all treatments can be adapted if necessary.
Once the massage begins, you are always covered by plenty of towels and blankets, except the area that is being worked on. Your comfort, safety, and modesty are very important to us.
If we need to adjust your position, we do so gently or ask you to move. You may also wish do this at any time.
The therapist checks in with you regularly as the treatment progresses, to make sure that you’re happy. You talk as little or as much as you want - whatever you find most restful.
Gentle music will be playing quietly in the background, unless you prefer silence or your own music. We will discuss all the options before we start.
During the treatment, please do say if something isn't quite right. We are happy to adjust music, pressure, temperature. Remember, this is your time!
Most people feel extremely relaxed. Some people experience a significant reduction in, or complete freedom from, aches and pains. Others feel slightly slowed down for a short period and then notice an increase in energy and productivity.
If you receive a deep tissue massage, you may be slightly sore the next day (like after a tough workout). A hot bath/shower can help to ease this.
Very occasionally, the body begins a noticeable self-healing process and elimination of toxins 24 to 48 hours after the massage. You may experience symptoms such as:
Don't worry! This shows your body is healing and working. It is rare to experience all these symptoms and mainly depends on your level of toxins and energy. Ensure you drink plenty of water, sleep, eat a healthy and balanced diet, and avoid alcohol if possible.
We are always here to discuss potential concerns. Please just ask.
This depends completely upon what you hope to achieve. If you are looking for a relaxation massage, then every three to five weeks may be fine for you. However, if you would like to address a specific problem, then more frequent appointments would probably be beneficial.
After the initial treatment, once we have identified and evaluated your unique concerns, we can come up with a personal massage treatment plan that's right for you.
